NORTH STREET — Marie Olive Furness, 72, of 5060 Beard Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1983, in her home.

She was born March 10, 1911, in Richmond, and was a lifelong area resident. She married Melford E. Furness April 1, 1931, in Port Huron.

Mrs. Furness was a member of the North Street United Methodist Church. She participated in the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her husband; five sons, Clayton L., North Street, The Rev. Clifford J., Lake Fenton, Harold E., Yale, and Norman F. and Gerald R., both of Port Huron; two daughters, Mrs. Duane ( Armetta ) Samson, Owosso, and Mrs. Donald (Vivian) Swanson, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four brothers, Roy and Ray Bubel, both of Sparlingville, Vern Bubel, Marysville, and Harlan Bubel, Port Huron; three sisters, Lucille McCollum, Jeddo, Helen Fishel, Port Huron, and June Schottle, Belleview; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the North Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Amstutz, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, Fargo. Visiting is from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. Memorials may be made to the church. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
