AQUILLA WILEY SAMPSON was born on January 26, 1824 in Fleming County, Kentucky, and died on June 19, 1898 in Papillion, Sarpy County, Nebraska. He was the son of JESSE SAMPSON (1794-1858) and his wife RHODA CHADWICK (1795-1857).

Aquilla married ELIZA ANN LEAK in 1848 in Montgomery County, Indiana, daughter of ELISHA LEAK and his wife ELIZABETH BROCKMAN. Eliza was born on December 5, 1824 in Boone County, Kentucky, and died on July 22, 1873 in Polk County, Iowa.

Aquilla and Eliza Sampson had the following children:

Death Notice:

"Died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. R. Carpenter, Sunday June 19, [1898] Mr. A. W. Sampson, well and favorably known in this community. Funeral services were conducted at the Carpenter home on Monday at 10 a.m. by Rev. R. J. Cocking, of the English M. E. Church, the remains being interned in Schaab's cemetery [later renamed Cedar Dale]. The deceased was born in the state of Kentucky on January 26, 1824, and was married in Indiana in 1848. He was the father of six children, five of whom survive him."
