Mangela "Malinda" was born on Fatland Farm, Akra, Skanevik, Hordeland, Norway on 27 Dec 1863, christened on 02 Jan 1864 (dates verified by Norwegian records). With her parents & 5 of her 7 siblings, Malinda immigrated to America in 1877 & settled in Illinois. On 23 Feb 1889, in Kendall Co., she married Severt H. Severson (1863-1936). Together they had 7 children: Henry, Sadie, Tillie Cora, Sanford A., Clifford, Winnie and Myrtle Sabina.
When I posted this memorial, I believed her death was on 14 Apr 1901 & she was buried in Helmar Cemetery in Newark IL. That belief was based on an obit supposedly published on 17 Apr 1901. However no one seems to have a copy of that obit & I'm no longer sure it exists. I have also learned her last child was born in 1902, so the 1901 date is not possible.
I now believe she died in 1903, I am working on verifying that date now. [per Illinois pre-1916 Death database, "Mrs S Severtson" died 20 Jun 1903, age 37, in Aux Sable Twp, of Grundy County, IL; vol 1, page 167, cert #2152]
There is a Carrie (Knudson) Severson who died on 14 Apr 1901, married to a Sever Severson, buried in Kendall Co. I believe her death was attributed to Malinda in error. (Memorial #57516410).
