Last Rites Held Here Sunday For Julia Jeffries
Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Jeffries were held at the First Baptist Church here Sunday at 3 p.m.
Mrs. Jeffries, former Memphis resident and the mother of Robert Duncan of this city, died in her Amarillo home Friday morning. She was 70 years of age.
Rev. Roy Shahan conducted the last rites. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Murphy-Spicer Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Jeffries was born on Feb. 29, 1880, at Cherokee, Ala. She moved to Hunt County with her parents in 1897 and married to Armster Duncan there in 1899. He died in 1903.
She married Walter Jones in 1906. He passed away in Hunt County in 1922 and she moved to Hall County in 1937. She was united in marriage to J.H. Jeffries that year and the family moved to Amarillo in 1944. Jeffries died in 1944.
Mrs. Jeffries had been a member of the Baptist Church since early childhood and was an active member of the Central Baptist Church in Amarillo at the time of her death.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ted Williams, Amarillo, and Mrs. Lee Zarecky, Fairmont, Calif.
Four sons survive: Robert Duncan, Memphis; Roy Jones and Joe Jones, Amarillo, and Clyde Jones, Clovis, New Mexico.
A sister, Mrs. Ben Kelly, of Mangum, Okla., also survives.
Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Three children preceded her in death.
