Daughter of Ledyard Thomas (Nov. 6, 1887-July 4, 1949) and Lula Boykin (Oct. 23, 1891-Jan. 16, 1968) Rolison. She married Elton Ray Moffett on January 5, 1947 in MS.

A graduate of Choctaw County High School of Butler, Alabama, she had worked as a caregiver for the elderly in Mississippi and Pennsylvania.
