The daughter of John Hunter (born 1842 Ireland) and Annie Leonard (born 1844 Ireland). The sister of William (born 1865); Marion ("Maisy" (?) born 1867); Isabell (born 1870); Jennie (born 1879) and Jay (born 8 February 1883 and died 3 October 1957). The mother of Herbert Hunter Stinson ( journalist and author of the novel "Fingerprints); Lillian Grace Stinson Maxfield; Robert John "Jack" Stinson and Donald H. "Harry" Stinson.
Lillian is found in the 1880 Cook County, Illinois census and her father, John, is employed as a clerk with the Railroad. In the 1900 Cook County, Illinois censes she is married to Charles Stinson and their marriage date is listed as 1894. In 1910 they are living in Ferguson, St. Louis Missouri with their family. In the 1920 census of Missouri, Charles is a traffic manager for the Wabash Railroad and his son Herbert Hunter is listed as a journalist. Also living with the family is a 75 year old hired man from Germany named John Rodhe and an 18 year old mulatto cook named Hazel Williams.


Her son Herbert Stinson dedicated his novel "Fingerprints" (1925) as follows: For my mother Lillian Catherine Stinson.
