On last Thursday the remains of J.W. Whitman was laid to rest by the side of his wife in the local cemetery. Mr. Whitman was a Confederate Veteran, and an inmate of the home in Austin. Mr. and Mrs. W.H. McColar of this community are surviving relatives of the deceased. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones. The Rockdale Reporter and Messenger, January 8, 1925
