Gary Carlisle Birdsong, 73, of Amarillo passed Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Wilson Chapel Cemetery in Kaufman by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Gary was born Dec. 15, 1936, in Kaufman to Raymond and Vera Mae Birdsong. He was a graduate of Kaufman High School and attended Texas Tech University. He worked in the concrete industry for 40 years as a plant manager of Crowe Gulde and Southwest Prestressed and an owner of TBC.

He was a loving father and husband. Gary liked sports, dancing, motorcycles, music and coaching kids.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Ellen Birdsong.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mary; four children, Carl Birdsong and wife Shylan, Joi Lovato and husband Robert, Craig Birdsong and Stephen Birdsong; a stepson, Wayne Dodson; and seven grandchildren, Orry Birdsong, Shylana Birdsong, Jacob Birdsong, Ashley Dodson, Austin Dodson, Bailey Dodson and Jamie Lovato.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Boxwell Brothers funeral home in Amarillo.
