Ira R. McBride of Arcadia died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was 89. Born July 21, 1915 in Warren, Ind., he was the son of Orlie C. and Elizabeth Ann (Sheets) McBride. They preceded him in death. He was married to Mary Francis (Schenkel) McBride for 65 years. She survives.
He served in the United States Navy. He started teaching in Huntington County, Ind. in 1939 and went on to teach at Marion High School in Marion, Ind. and in Eastwood Middle School in Washington Township in Indianapolis. He retired from teaching in 1978. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tipton.
Along with his wife, survivors include his daughter, Mary E. (Scott) Knighton of Cicero; two sons, Gerry R. (Sandy) McBride of Highland Village, Texas, and Harold McBride of Carmel; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Sabra C. Barrett; one son, Emil J. McBride; and two brothers, Harold and Irald McBride.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Randall and Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St. in Noblesville. Services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Herb Eggleston will officiate. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Tipton, 200 W. Jefferson St., Tipton, IN 46072, or to the American Lung Association.

Part of the ashes from the cremation of his son, Emil J. McBride were buried in his coffin.
