Death of Mrs. Metcalfe
Mary E. Metcalfe (nee Starkey) wife of the late Theodore Metcalfe, was born October 12, 1852, and died in St Louis, where she resided with her son, Felix Metcalfe, Sunday at 6:30 a. m. January 31, 1932, at the age of 79 years, 3 month and 19 days. She was born near Carrollton, Kentucky, married Theodore T. Metcalfe January 7, 1869, and to this union were born twelve children. Three preceded her in death. Nine children, thirty-one grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren are left to mourn the loss of their mother and grandmother. In early womanhood she united with the Christian Church at Louisiana, Mo.
Mrs. Metcalfe and family were residence of the locality northeast of Wright City many years ago, where one son, Brag Metcalfe family now reside, and were well and favorably known to their neighbors and friends, who extend sympathy to the bereaved children.
The burial took place in the old family burying-ground Tuesday afternoon following a brief service conducted by Rev. W. C Harper, pastor of the Union M. E. Church in Wright City.
The children who survive are Mrs. Will Hunn, Mrs. Richard Hunn and Owen, Will, John, Peers, George, Felix and Brag Metcalfe.
