Calvin Cowgill was granted a divorce from his wife in Sept. 1891 on the grounds of adultery.
Calvin married Anna R. Briggs in Oct. 1891. She had a five year old son (apparently out of wedlock), named Chester Briggs. His surname is sometimes seen as Cowgill. Calvin and Anna had a daughter named Lavon.
