Betty Chadwick Sullivan was the nation's first female television photographer. She was hired by WTHI-TV, Terre Haute, in 1958 after working for the Brazil Daily Times newspaper.

Betty Chadwick Sullivan

Betty Chadwick Sullivan, 55, WTHI-TV executive Producer and news director, passed away early Wednesday morning at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.

Born Aug. 16, 1925 in Brazil, she was the daughter of Ira and Belle (Stanton) Chadwick.

She was a member of the South 17th Street Church of Christ in Terre Haute, National Directors Association and National Press Photographers Association.

Survivors include the husband, Don; three (3) sisters, Eloise Chadwick, Brazil, Mrs. Norman (Marjorie) Birt, Greencastle, and Mrs. George (Sarah) Watson, Denver, Colo; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted by Bro. Rod MacArthur at the Cross Funeral Home 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

A memorial scholarship fund has been set up in her honor.
