Thomas married Berlinda Betts, 30 Nov 1880 in Dunklin Co., MO.

Dr. Thomas L. Pierce joined the Medhodist Curch at eleven years of age. At twenty years of age he went to Dunklin County, Missouri, where he was granted the first certificate, and taught the first free public school in that county for two years. While teaching there, a young girl, Miss Berlinda Betts, went to school to him. She later became his wife. At the age of twenty-two he entered medical college in Keokuk, Iowa, after attendance there he began to practice medicine with Dr. J.H. Norris in Metropolis, Illinois. In 1876 he moved to Boydsvill, Arkansas, where he practiced medicine very successfully for twenty-five years. After moving to Carbon, Texas, in 1904, Dr Pierce practiced medicine untill ill health prevented further services. His life was spent in loving service for his fellow man. Info from Nolan Pierce
