At the age of four years she came to live with her grandparents, near Malone until her mariage to Charles Holmes on Dec. 14, 1875. To this union seven children were born, two dying in infancy.
Rose, as she was familiarly called, was a loving mother and a kind neighbor, always ready to help whenever needed. She was faithful to God to the end.
In 1894 she was married to Herbert House, who passed away on Jan. 17, 1915.
Those left to mourn her death are Arthur of Pardeeville, Mrs. Nelson Swenson of Princeton, Roy, Alfred, and Delbert of Hancock, a stepdaughter, Emma Banks of Racine, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and five step -grandchildren. Three of her grandsons are serving in the army.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 10th at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Hancock, with the Rev. A. E. Knaak officiating, assisted by Rev. P. H. Likes. Interment took place in the Colburn-Leola cemetery.
