Pioneer Area Resident Dies

Mrs. Julia Tyson, 68, long-time West Texas resident died at her home here today. She had been ill three years.

Funeral held from Wylie Funeral chapel with Rev. A.A. Davis, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. Body will lie in state at the family home. Burial in the Oplin cemetery.

Mrs. Tyson was born 20 December 1879 in Alabama, and moved with her parents to Rising Star in 1883. (father was James A. Haynes, Mother Sarah A. Starkey) She moved to Oplin in 1905 and had been a resident of Baird since 1938. Her husband, J.N. Tyson died in 1940.

Survivors: 2 sons - Buford Tyson and Euel Tyson, both of Baird; 3 daughters - Mrs. Ethel Stevenson and Mrs. Jack Vaught of Baird, Mrs. B.E. Clusky of Midland; 6 brothers - R.A. Haynes and Walter Hanyes of Abilene; Lanham Haynes of Lawn, Claude and Cecil Haynes o Tucson, AZ; Charley Haynes of Wichita Falls; 3 sisters - Mrs. Tom Robertson of Baird, Mrs. Floyd Lawless of Abilene, Mrs. Ethel Branton of Knox City; 6 grand. Pallbearers: Lester Farmer, Connie Brown, Bonnie Thompson, Glen Boyd, Morton Whitley, Barton McPherson.
