J. W. Sanders, 82, of Brenham, husband of Juanita Sanders, died Jan. 5, 2010 at College Station Medical Center in College Station. Born Sept. 4, 1927 in Lexington, Okla. to David Richard and Mary Elizabeth Minor Sanders, he was baptized Jan. 15, 1967 in Moore, Okla. On Jan. 16, 1948, he married Juanita Cash in Purcell, Okla. He attended the University of Oklahoma and worked as a building contractor. He later retired from the Blinn College Construction Maintenance Dept.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will take place Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 in the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Okla.

Mr. Sanders was a member of the Elks Lodge, Lions Club and the New Wehdem Shooting Club. Gardening and woodworking were favorite pastimes.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Sanders; daughters, Tammy Marburger of College Station, and Beth Loney and husband Ted of Katy; six grandchildren, Dustin Marburger, Amanda Charley, Linsey Johnson, Devin Johnson, Jarod Crain, Jennifer Crain, Janie Wilson and Kirsten Loney; great-grandchildren, Gavin Johnson, Nikolas Runnels and Madison Runnels; an infant son, Richard Wesley Sanders preceded him in death.

Honorary pallbearers are Bill Robbins, Clayton Lichti and Travis Pilchek, as well as members of the New Wehdem Shooting Club.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham. (979) 836-4564.
