W. A. Wilson, 77, was found dead at his home in north Lampasas Saturday morning, January 20, at 4 o'clock, he having died suddenly. Funeral services were held from the Baptist church at Adamsville Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. R. H. Mathison and internment was in the Straley cemetery.

Mr. Wilson was a native of Texas, born in Washington county, near Brenham, July 14, 1862. As a young man he came to Lampasas and this county had been his home since then. He was engaged in farming for a long time and then did carpenter work for several years. For twenty years he and Mrs. Wilson operated the Wilson rooming house at the corner of Fourth and Chestnut streets. For the past two years he had been in very poor health. He was a familiar figure on the streets here around where work was going on. He was always interested in the reunions held for old settlers and liked to see them together. Mr. Wilson married Miss. Lelia Louella Woodruff September 3, 1893 and to this union were born five children, two of whom preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife; three children, Mrs. Effie Smith of Lampasas, Mrs. W. W. Strickland of Evant, and Lee Wilson of Adamsville; one brother, Dee Wilson of Lott; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers for the funeral were: Ed Votaw, Joe Young, R. L. Wilson, Hosea Bailey, Tommie Cook, and Charlie Cook.
