Roy G. Roberts, 68, of 410 E. Highland Court, Owensboro, died Saturday, May 23, 1987, at his home. He was born in Daviess County, was a retired salesman for Sears Department Store and a member of Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a Kentucky Colonel, a 25-year member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of TPA. Survivors include his wife, E. Ruth Roberts; three sons, Larry W. & Harold G. Roberts, both of Carmel, IN, and Roy L. Roberts of Raleigh, NC; two daughters, Brenda Roberts Starr of Woodbridge, VA, and Dr. Joan Roberts Wimsatt of Lexington; 16 grandchildren; five brothers, Manuel, Johnny & Paul Roberts, all of Owensboro, Lawrence Roberts of Knottsville and Lavega Roberts of Sorgho; and two sisters, Virginia Payne and Evelyn Velotta, both of Owensboro. Services are at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation after 10 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 7 p.m.
