From the Beaumont (TX) Journal, Monday, December 30, 1935, p. 13:

Funeral services for Mrs. C. E. Walker, 43, proprietor of the Walker's Merchandise store at Hankamer who died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday at her home in Hankamer will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Abshire cemetery near Hankamer.

Rev. L. J. Hand, Anahuac Baptist minister, will officiate. Interment will be the family burying plot in the Abshire cemetery under the direction of Pipkin and Brulin.

Active pallbearers will be A. S. Hankamer, R. E. Lee, R. T. Weiser, E. S. Absire, L. A. Ainsworth and G. M. Speights.

Surviving Mrs. Walker are her father, J. E. Abshire of Hankamer; a daughter, Mrs. R. A. McMillan, Hankamer; two brothers, H. C. Abshire, Hankamer, and R. E. Abshire, Beaumont; five sisters, Mrs. Reed Kindle and Mrs. J. J. Spikes, Anahuac; Mrs. J. H. Lee, Nederland; Mrs. O. E. Cuniff and Mrs. J. E. Cline, Hankamer, and two grandchildren.
