Pioneer Dies In Memphis Late Today

James Neeley, aged 79 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D.C. Worsham, Tenth and Robertson streets, at 5:30 this Thursday afternoon.

Mr. Neeley was a pioneer citizen of this section, having been one of the first settlers of Collingsworth county. He leaves five children: Ira W. and D.A. Neeley of Memphis; W.W. Neeley of Wellington; Mrs. Sam Alexander of Memphis, and Mrs. Helen Sullivan of Slaton.

The funeral will be held from the First Methodist church Friday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. C.E. Jameson.

The funeral of James Neeley was held from the First Methodist church last Friday afternoon conducted by the Rev. C.E. Jameson, assisted by Dr. J. Hardin Mallard. Burial was made in Fairview cemetery with Masonic Honors.

The pall bearers were C.A. Powell, W.B. Quigley, E.S. Browning, W.A. Thompson, W.C. Milam and C.R. Webster. Flower bearers were Mesdames C.R. Webster, R.H. Wherry, W.M. Owens, John Owens, Louie Goffinett, J.W. Slover, and G.L. Tipton.

The surviving children of Mr. Neeley are D.A. Neeley and I.W. Neeley of Memphis; W.W. Neeley of Wellington, J.E. Neeley of Wheeler; Mrs. Sam Alexander recently moved to Wheeler; Mrs. D.C. Worsham of Memphis and Mrs. Helen Sullivan of Spur, who were all here.

Deceased was a pioneer of the Panhandle, and up to a few years ago was very active and took a great deal of interest in everything for the good of the community.
