He is survived by his wife, Sara Boone Baird; his daughter and son-in-law, Anne Baird and Dr. Robert J. Newman; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Roger Pryor Baird III and Dr. Chris DeVincentis Baird; a sister, Lucy Wynn Baird; a brother, William Thomas Baird; and his grandchildren, Lesley Pryor and Sara Virginia Newman; and a nephew, W. Thomas Baird.
Mr. Baird was a member and deacon of River Road Church Baptist, a member of Willow Oaks Country Club and the Virginia Historical Society, and a 1941 graduate of V.P.I. He also served as a test pilot in the Army Air Corps for many types of aircraft, including the B-29 during WWII, and was a sales engineer with Texaco, Inc., for 39 years.
His remains rest at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at River Road Church Baptist. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.
