Funeral services for John R. Blanton, 83, of the Edhube community were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Wise Funeral Home with the Rev Joe Eubanks and the Rev Wayne Dyer officiating. Burial was in Willow Wild.
Mr. Blanton died in a Sherman hospital at 3:15 p.m. Saturday Dec. 14, 1974.
He was born at Trenton, April 29, 1891, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter D. Blanton. He married Ida Clark in Bonham July 16, 1916.
A member of the Edhube Baptist Church, he was a retired farmer and carpenter.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ida Blanton of the home; two sons, Wesley Blanton of Cleburne and Leslie Blanton of Edhube; five daughters, Mrs. Glowrene Wright of Picton, Mrs. Margaret Hill of Pine Forest, Mrs. Helen Stinson, Mrs. Bonnie Krempling and Mrs. Mildred Abbott of Sherman, 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A son Harold J. preceded him in death.
Grandsons served as active pallbearers.
