Allie Virginia Loftis Charping, 94, widow of Hoke L. Charping, died Saturday, January 9, 2010.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late John James and Mary Batson Loftis.

She was retired from Southern Worsted Mills.

A lifelong member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, she faithfully served her church as organist for many years and was a member of the Steadfast Sunday School Class and the Joy Club.

Surviving are two nieces, Linda Loftis of Greenville and Gertrude (Mrs. White) Jones of Anderson and a nephew, Larry Loftis and his wife, Mary, of Greenville, S.C.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Crystal Boling and Mamie Green, and four brothers, John S. Loftis, Ben Loftis, Markley Loftis and Wade H. Batson.

Services will be conducted 3 p.m., Monday, January 11, 2010 at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Honorary Escort will be members of the Steadfast Sunday School Class of the church.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 4 until 5:30 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Music Ministry, 255 W. Mt. Creek Church Rd., Greenville, SC 29609.

The family is at the home of her nephew, 302 Greenview Circle, Greenville.
