Gladys Mildred Travis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Travis, was born October 2, 1916, at Helvey, Neb. She died at her home in Ong, April 2, 1937, at the age of 20 years and 6 months.

At the age of two years she was baptized in the Presbyterian Church of Ong, and June 6, 1931, she was received into the Methodist Church by Rev. John Herrmann, of which church she has been an active member since. At the time of her death she was president of the Standard Bearers.

She attended the public school of Ong, graduating with the class of 1934. Her pleasing personality won for her the admiration of all her school associates.

Through her thoughtful care of her invalid mother and close companionship to her father, she has endeared herself to a host of loving and faithful friends. Her cheerful disposition through all her sickness carried her bravely to the world beyond.

She leaves to mourn her death, her father and mother; Grandfather and Grandmother Travis, several aunts, uncles and cousins and other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 at the house and at 2 at the Methodist Church with Rev. L. R. Hansberry in charge. A mixed quartet, Mrs. Will Herrick, Mrs. J. Anderson, Dean Wight and Paul Anderson sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." "There will be no Tears in Paradise" and "When I Get to the End of the Way." Mrs. R. McCloughan accompanied the singers.

The pallbearers were Darrel Nobel, Lloyd Smith and Ernest Smith, cousins of Gladys; and Bert Searles, Donald Rudd and Reuben Swanson, who were her classmates.

Interment was in the Ong Cemetery.
