Sadie Jane Cole Settle was born in 1875. She managed the Douglas Hotel located on N.W. 2nd Street. She was also famous for making tamales. People stood in line to get them fresh. Sadie died in 1962. The wooden marker at the gravesite was made by their son, James Neil Settle and recently restored by Patrick Hackworth.
