Gladys Irene Miller, 91, of Ottumwa, IA, formerly of Downing, MO, passed away at Hospice House in Ottumwa, IA, on February 10, 2004.

The daughter of Edwin and Laura E. (Friend) Rummerfield, she was born December 4, 1912, in Wilmathsville, MO.

On October 17, 1931, in Kirksville, MO, she was married to William Hosea Miller and to this union two children were born, William Eugene and Linda Lea (Miller) Moore.

Survivors include her children, William Eugene and wife, Clara Faye Miller of Arizona City, AZ, and Linda Lea and husband, Mearl Moore of Bloomfield, IA; six grandchildren, Steven Miller and wife, Kathy of Colorado Springs, CO, Stanley Miller and wife, Stephenie of Peyton, CO, Douglas Miller and wife, Terri of Ft. Collins, CO, Karen (Miller) Burns and husband, Patrick of Aurora, CO, Deborah (Moore) Jackson and husband, Tim of Bloomfield, IA, and Kathleen (Moore) Tolly and husband, Steve of Des Moines, IA; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and three step-great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Zelma Neiderheiser of Payton, IA; four nieces and four nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hosea; one sister, Iona Bragg; one brother, Arthur Rummerfield; and one nephew, Cecil Bragg.

Graveside services were held February 13, 2004 at the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, MO with Reverend Gordon Hawkins of the Floris Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Steven Miller, Stanley Miller, Douglas Miller, Patrick Burns, Tim Jackson and Steve Tolly. Memorials have been established for Hospice, Ottumwa, IA or the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, MO. Final arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster and Downing, MO.
