Before her life took a left turn at Albuquerque, this amazing woman lit up the world with her wit, wisdom, and one-of-a-kind giggle!

Born on October 10, 1947 in Stockton, CA, Beverley Ann Ramsey, 62, lost her battle with cancer on December 18, 2009 at Georgetown University Hospital.

Bev graduated from Manteca High School. She then attended BYU, graduating with a dual degree in literature and English, as well as her teaching certificate. She taught school in Utah for eight years. After teaching, Bev returned to BYU, entering as one of the first women to attend the law program. She earned her law degree then became one of the earliest women to practice law in Utah County.

In 1986, Beverley moved to Virginia, which she adopted as her home state. She practiced law privately with the firm of Tate & Bywater. She later became a partner in the firm of Arthur, Pearson & Ramsey.

From 2001 until her death, she was an attorney for Travelers Insurance with the Mackey Firm. Beverley was an active member of the LDS church. She served in many callings including playing the organ, piano, and teaching seminary. Her profound gift for teaching affected many while she served most of her adult life as a Gospel Doctrine teacher. As a teen she played clarinet in the marching and concert bands and wrote road shows for her local ward.

A prolific geneologist and historian, Bev accomplished her loftiest goal just a few months ago; she completed a 1500 page, 3-volume book detailing one of her family lines back to the 1600s. After years of research and travel, her book will be placed in significant libraries across the United States.

Other publications include articles for historical magazines regarding her favorite historical relative, Confederate General James Johnston Pettigrew. He was a prisoner at Ft. Delaware and fought at Gettysburg. Some of Beverley's other interests and talents include: spending time with family (anytime and anywhere!), traveling the world, painting, writing, and blessing the lives of others with her quick wit and often hilarious observations of life.

Bev was preceeded in death by her much-loved father, Earl Ramsey, who passed away October 1992. Beverley is survived by many, many others who include her mother, Betty Ramsey, beloved brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Lynn Ramsey and the following nieces and nephews; Chris (Suzanne) Ramsey, Pete (Judy) Ramsey, Sarah (Wayne) Giles, Suzanne (Kevin) Towsley, Rachel Ramsey, Jessica (Bryce) Golden, and Rebecca Anderson. Other survivors include her fifteen great-nieces and nephews and extended family in Utah, California, Oregon, and Indiana. Of special mention are her Virginia and Maryland families; the George and Eula May Gardineer, Larry and Peggi Grimes, Ed and Lois Scholz, and Pete and Laura Scholz families. Friends, Laura Scholz, Peggi Grimes, Rocco Porecco, Paul Pearson, Mitch Grimes, and Roger Mackey are friends who loved and served Bev above and beyond. Thank you so much!

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 North 100 West, Mount Pleasant, Utah. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will be in the Fairview City Cemetary immediately afterward.
A memorial service was held in McLean, Virginia on December 21, 2009.
