ALGER - Mrs. Daisy Cowan Layton, 89, of Alger, died at 10:25 p.m. Monday in Lima Memorial Hospital following a several months illness.
She was born Sept. 2, 1875, in Auglaize County, the daughter of John and Ellen (Bigelow) Bollins. She was married to Asa Armentrout in 1892. He died in 1925. She later married O. C. Layton and he survives.
Also surviving are a son, Cecil Armentrout of Arlington; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Rathke of Monroe, Mich., Mrs. Katherine Crawford of Toledo, Mrs. Edith Snyder of Belle Center, Mrs. Irma Streets of Stockbridge, Mich.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lucille Downing of Cleveland and Mrs. Dayle McCaully of Lima; two step-sons, Robert Layton and Gerald Layton, both of Cambridge, Mass.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A son, Guy, and two daughters, Eva and Eleanora, preceded her in death.
She was a member of Alger Central Methodist Church and its Ladies Aid Society.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Hanson Funeral Home, Alger, with Rev. George Rickard officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight.
