Mrs. Frank Leshosky, sr.
Rose Filinger, daughter of Joe and Anna Filinger, was born February 15, 1858 at
Volesna, Austria-Hungary and passed away at Belleville, November 21, 1938 after
a lingering illness of two and one-half years, at the age of 80 years, 9 months
and 6 days.
She came to this country with her parents at the age of 8 years and they settled
near Muscoda Wis. She later moved with her family to a farm near Cuba, in 1900,
where she spent most of her life.
On February 2, 1878, she was united in marriage to Frank Leshosky, and to this
union were born six children, five of whom survive: Frank H. Leshosky of Narka,
Mary Lang of Cuba, Anna Hanel, Geo. G. Leshosky and Rose E. Packard, all of
Belleville. Elizabeth Wokal, a daughter, preceded her mother April 10, 1912,
leaving a four months' old son, Gerald F. Wokal, whom she gave a mother's care
until he was grown to manhood. Her husband departed this life December 28, 1932.
Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her passing eight grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Anna Washichek of Almena, Mrs. Frances
Peterka of Cuba, and many other relatives and friends. One sister, Mrs. Mary
Kadlec, passed away December 19, 1937.
She became a church attendant early in life and a member of the Cuba
Presbyterian church after moving to Kansas. Her greatest joy in living was in
doing for others and in giving to those less fortunate than herself.
The funeral services were held at the Bachelor-Faulkner Chapel at 2 o'clock
Wednesday afternoon, November 23, conducted by the Rev. Amos Rundus, with
interment in the Tabor Cemetery.
