Funeral services were held from the residence Wednesday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Frank Leonard, 84, of Gladwin, who died Monday following an extended illness. The Rev. Floyd Drake, of the Gladwin Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Highland cemetery.
Agnes McCracken, daughter of Robert and Agnes McCracken, was born in Camden, Ontario, on December 28, 1859. She was married to Frank Leonard in Camden on May 1, 1883, and they came to Gladwin county where they purchased land in Sage township and hewed a farm out of what was then wooded wilderness.
Mrs. Leonard was a member of the Gladwin Methodist Church, of the Women's Society for Christian Service, and was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star in which society she once served as matron of the Gladwin Chapter. For the past three years she has been an invalid and confined to her bed.
Surviving are three children, Fred, of Gladwin; Mrs. Stella Englehardt, of Royal Oak; Mrs. Ruth Barnes, of Kalkaska; and five grandchildren. A daughter, Ella, preceded her mother in death in 1933 and Mr. Leonard died in 1940. Gladwin County Record dated 12-29/1943
