Jerome J. Breindel, 87, of 139 Lynch Road, St. Marys, died on Monday afternoon, Jan. 4,
2010, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home.
He was born on March 7, 1922, in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph and Marian
Weidenboerner Breindel.
On Jan. 13, 1945, in the Immaculate Conception Church in Tyler, Texas, he married
Charlotte Walker, who preceded him in death on March 10, 2007.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central High School. He
was class Valedictorian of the graduating class of 1940. He retired from Airco
Speer, in 1982 after 43 years of service. He was a member of the St. Mary's Church,
a veteran of WWII where he served in the Army spending his service time at Camp Fannin
in Tyler, TX, where he met his wife. He was a member of the American Legion, past
director of the St. Marys Sportsmen, serving as director for many years and was a
member of the St. Joseph's Society.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. (Breindel) Kephart and her husband, David,
of St. Marys; four sons, Joseph J. Breindel and his wife, Joan (Sheehan), of Old
Saybrook, CT, Father Charles L. Breindel of Danville, VA, Jerome D. Breindel and his
wife, Shirley (Fitch), of St. Marys, and Eugene F. Breindel and his wife Roseann (Ranno)of St. Marys; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Jane (Breindel) Wickett and her husband, Clarence, of St. Marys.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul L. Breindel.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome J. Breindel will be celebrated in the St. Mary's Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Father Charles L. Breindel, his son, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
