Florine Duer formerly of Wagoner, died on Friday, February 17, 2006 in the Broken Arrow Nursing Home at the age of 94. She was born to John and Jane Humphrey in Lutie, Oklahoma on September 25, 1911 and she received her schooling in Henryetta. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wesley Graver officiating. Burial will follow in Broken Arrow at the Floral Haven Cemetery.
Florine married George Duer and together they raised their son Jon Gary Duer. They owned and operated Duer's Country Store outside of Wagoner at the Whitehorn Cove area for over fifteen years. It was a compact family business
with a bait shop, grocery store and the good cafe cooking that kept Florine busy. She attended church at Twin Oaks Baptist Church and later at the Church of Christ.
Florine enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.
Florine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Duer; two brothers, Johnny and Clinton Humphrey; two sisters; Nellie Faye Schweiss and Louise Holloway. Her son and granddaughters have always been a very important part of her life, sharing wonderful times and memories. She recently moved from the Pocola Care Center to the Broken Arrow Nursing Home to be near her sister. Florine is survived by her son; Jon Gary Duer of Pocola, OK; one sister, Berenice Caudle of Bixby; two granddaughters, Michelle Spinas and Crystal Duer; one great-grandchild, K.D. Spinas and awaiting the delivery of Dani Rae Spinas. Services were held at 1 pm Monday, Feb. 20, 2006 at the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, OK.
