Leo G. Rowlee, age 78, resident of 223 Woodland Place, Whitefish, died unexpectedly in downtown Whitefish tuesday. Rowlee was born November 29, 1890 at Lawton, Michigan, the son of Leonard and Phoebe Rowlee. He received his early schooling at Lawton, later moving to Kalamazoo, where he completed his schooling and then worked at the Kalamazoo Sled Factory. In 1915 he moved with his parents to Highwood, Montana where he farmed for a few years and then moved to Cut Bank to work for the Great Northern Railway in the roundhouse there. He was married to Millie C. Waldron, April 20,1918 at Great Falls, Montana. Shortly after his marriage he entered the United States Army in World War l. He returned to Cut Bank after the war and in 1923 moved to Whitefish to work as a machinist helper for the Great Northern Railroad until his retirement in July 1956. He was a member of World War l Veterans of Kalispell. He is survived by his wife, Millie at the family home; one daughter Eleanor; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Margaret 1954 and Phyllis 1968. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Austin Funeral Home.
