Obituary: Jefferson City Post Tribune, Monday, January 17, 1994

Services were held Sunday for Gertie F. Routon, 97, Eldon, who died Friday at the Miller County Nursing Home, Tuscumbia. She was born Feb 7, 1896, in Miller County, a daughter of James and Rachel Cox Vernon. She was married Sept. 21, 1963, in Eldon, to J. L. Routon, who died June 18, 1971.

A homemaker, she had lived in the Eldon area most of her life. She was a seamstress at a garment factory and a member of Aurora Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Roscoe Vernon, Eldon; one step-daughter, Anna Lou Phillips, Tulsa, Okla.; two step-sons, Gerald Routon, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Billy Gene Routon, Barnett; and several step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Wilma Carrender, May 25, 1953.

Services were held at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Randall Bunch officiated. Burial was in Eldon City Cemetery.
