Mrs. C. P. Munch Died On Sunday In Pittsburgh
Word was received in DuBois Sunday of the death of Mrs. C. P. Munch, a former resident of this city and a native of Falls Creek, who passed away in Pittsburgh on Sunday. The remains were taken to the home of her sister, Mrs. William Burke, in the Mt. Oliver section of Pittsburgh, and on Tuesday noon will be brought to this city and taken to the home of Mrs. H. A. Landis on East Scribner Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and burial will be made in the family plot.
The news of Mrs. Munch's death will be heard with deep regret on the part of a large number of friends in DuBois, where she spent a great many years of her life. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew F. Baum, and was born in the vicinity of Falls Creek about 56 years ago, but her parents brought her to this city in her childhood and she was educated in the DuBois schools, later attending a girls' seminary near Rochester, N. Y. She was the wife of Charles P. Munch, who was superintendent of the Buffalo & Susquehanna coal operations here for years. The family resided on DuBois Avenue, East Side, until ten years ago when they removed to West Virginia, where Mr. Munch continued his interest in the coal business until his death in 1925. One daughter, Mrs. Helen Munch McCreight, also preceded her mother in death by eight years.
Mrs. Munch was a woman who took an active and leading part in the social life of DuBois during her long residence here, and was held in high regard by a large circle of friends to whom news of her death will come as a sorrowful shock.
