William James Rolan Bell Jr., 78, of Rosebud, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First Methodist Church in Rosebud. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery. Family visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Bell, a carpenter/contractor and owner of Rosebud Lumber, was born in West, Texas, to William James Rolan and Lillian Sophie (Peterson) Bell. He married Sara "Sadie" Miller on Nov. 10, 1952. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Bell was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Rosebud Lions Club, Rosebud Volunteer Fire Dept. Rosebud Chamber of Commerce, Rosebud/Lot School Board, American Legion and Amvets.

He was preceded in death by his wife, on Dec. 29, 2003; and a son, Mark.

Survivors include sons, Mike Bell and wife, Cheryl, and David Bell and wife, Kay, all of Rosebud; daughter, Janet Prater and husband, Thomas, of Bryan; grandchildren, Lacy Buckner and husband, James, Jennifer Bell, and Matthew Bell, all of Bryan, and Natalie Bell and Marshal Bell, both of Rosebud; mother, Lillian Bell, of Hillsboro; and sisters, Ann Reese, of Hillsboro, Shellie Uptmore, of West, and Dovie Gallagher, of Mount Calm.
