George Goucher practiced medicine for many years in Mississippi, Louisiana and other Southern states. At the outbreak of the Mexican War, he volunteered to serve. Military service: Vera Cruz, Veracruz, Mexico
Mexican-American War served as a Medical Officer.

During the time of the Gold excitement in California, he left New Orleans for the Isthmus of Panama and there with a company of 199 others, purchased a Spanish Brig, converted it into an American craft, and sailed for California, reaching the state in 1849.

In 1864 he came to Oregon. George was ordained to preach the gospel. For over a year he occupied the Dallas Oregon Circuit for the M. E. Church South. (It was not uncommon to have more than one profession.)

He was first married in California to Deliliah Ann Morrison. She died in Oregon in 1875. Deliliah is buried in the same cemetery with one of their daughters "Delpha" who died from Typhoid Fever at age of 9 years 11 months and 18 days. She is buried in the Masonic Cemetery, Lafayette, Yamhill County, Oregon.

The Dr. remarried to Jane Lindsay and she died in Oregon in 1877.

The Dr's third wife was the widow - Almira P Trumball-Scherman "Sherman". They were married 1878 in Amity, Yahhill Co, Oregon. She died in Oregon in 1886 and is buried in the Amity Cemetery, the same cemetery where Almira's first husband is buried as well as the good Dr.
