H. Gene Buse was born September 29, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri and passed from this life on January 4, 2010 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Gene was raised on his grandparents farm in Keefeton, Oklahoma and graduated from Warner High School in 1947. He joined Calvary Baptist Church on his birthday, September 29, 1974, and has been an active member since that time. He was a member of the Teamsters Union working for Rocket Freight Lines and retired from Smith Transfer in 1984. Gene had a passion for baseball, pitching for several local teams and was given the nickname "Rag Arm". In later years he coached and played softball with his sons for Calvary Baptist Church. He also liked to fish and deer hunt. He married Patsy Corinne Brown on June 22, 1956 in Muskogee. To this union were born three children who survive him: Debbie and husband John Spencer of Muskogee, Doug Buse of Muskogee, and David and wife Jamie Buse of Broken Arrow; three granddaughters, Chelsea Buse of Ft. Gibson and Makenzie and Madison Buse of Broken Arrow; sister, Doris Crow of Muskogee; aunt, Ardyce Briggs of Muskogee and uncle, John Buse of Warner; cousins, Phyllis Holder, Jeanetta Buse and Frank Jones; mother-in-law, Agnes Brown of Muskogee, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim Brown and Ann Franklin of Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Sena and Steve Moore; brother, Donald Moore; his beloved grandparents, Raymond and Dena Buse; aunts, Hilda Jones, Edith Robinson and Hannah Charles, and uncle, Chris Buse. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday January 8, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Crow and Rev. Glen Little officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Louie Gassaway, Kenneth Gordon, Leonard Harris, Marvin Miller, Eugene Smithson and Rodney Hudson. Honorary pallbearers are the Adult Men's Sunday School Class. Friends may wish to make memorials to the, 6465 S. Yale, Suite 312, Tulsa, OK 74136-7804 or Calvary Baptist Church, 220 S. R St., Muskogee, OK 74403. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
