---Claud Lavern Wood, 58, long time resident of La Plata, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon about 2:00 while operating the city motor grader. He was apparently the victim of a heart attack.
---Mr. Wood had been and employee of the city of La Plata for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church.
---Born February 7, 1907 in Adair County, he was the son of B.T. and Maude Wood. On January 30, 1934, he was married to Leola Wares at Edina.
---Surviving are his mother; his wife and two children, Mrs. Bob (Lodena) Biggs of La Plata and Linden Wood of the home. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Jessie (May) Perkins of Glenville, Minnesota, Mrs. Russell (Juanita) Barrett and Miss Jessie Wood, both of La Plata.
---He was preceded in death by his father, one son, William, who was killed in service in 1958 and one brother.
---Funeral services were held at the Community Presbyterian Church Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Evert Lee Haney of La Plata officiating. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery.
---Bearers were Hugh Hawkins, Paul Kurtz, Stanley Walker, Irl Farden, John Moncrief and Andrew Love.
