Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell E. Antley, age 90 of Columbia, was held at 11AM Wednesday, January 6, 2010 from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Columbia with Rev. Eric Harriman officiating and Keith Antley delivering the eulogy. Interment followed at Columbia Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday evening at Riser Funeral Home from 5 PM to 8 PM. Mr. Antley was born in Point, LA to the union of Lon and Marina Antley and went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2010 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. Mitchell lived in Point until WWII, where he served in the South Pacific in New Guinea and the Philippines. He retired after 20 years of service in the Army and Air Force. He was a Christian and member of Providence Baptist Church in Point for many years. After moving to Columbia he became a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia serving as a Deacon. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Elder, Ford, Hardy and Amos; three sisters, Estelle, Maude and Alma, and the mother of his children, Catherine L. Antley, one daughter, Jan, one grandson, Mickey, and his second wife, Alice Taylor Page Antley.
