Luby Paul Pellegrin, 82, is survived by his wife, Gladys Marie Guidry Pellegrin; five daughters, Jeanette Pellegrin Dufresne of Tallahassee, Fla., Patricia Pellegrin Theriot and husband, Louis "L.J." Theriot, of Chauvin, Crystal Pellegrin Murphy and husband, Jim Murphy, of Houston, Jenny Pellegrin Authement and husband, Ivan Authement Jr., of Chauvin and Peggy Pellegrin Alongi and husband, Sal Alongi, of Metairie; one brother, LeRay Pellegrin; one sister, Annie Mae Pellegrin St. Pierre; nine grandchildren, Tanya Dufresne Layton, Dawn Theriot Guy, Jill Theriot Hebert, Donna Foret Tomz, Holly Adams Catich, Sandi Authement Chauvin, Summer Authement Pinell, Daniel Savoie and Jessica Pellegrin; and 12 great-grandchildren, Shaye Layton, Megan Boquet, Trey Bagley, Derick Romero, Carson Tomz, Parker Tomz, Brianna Chauvin, Chyna Chauvin, Taylor Savoie, Caleb Savoie, Mason Savoie and Madeline Catich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvest Joseph and Olivia Pellegrin; four sisters, Velma Pellegrin Authement, Laura Pellegrin Loupe, Emilie Pellegrin Blanchard and Elsie Mae Pellegrin; one brother, Allen Pellegrin; and one son, Larry "Ziggy" Pellegrin.

He was a retired crew boat captain and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a loving and gentleman who was very well loved by his family. He was a quiet man who led by example. He enjoyed nothing better than family gatherings that included eating and laughing and grandchildren running around him. He will be missed each and every day.

His greatest love was his wife, Gladys, who was with him only minutes before God called him home. He was also surrounded by his children when he took his last peaceful breath on this earth. He died exactly as he had lived his life, with honor and dignity. His children will remember him for his selflessness, his humility and always putting others needs above his own. By example, he taught his children the great lessons of graciousness, acceptance, pride and hard work. We feel only pride for having known him and had him in our lives. Thank you God for giving us the blessing of our dear father, Luby Paul Pellegrin.
