William "Wilbert" was the son of Casper Hockenberry and Priscilla (Bryan) Hockenberry of Butler County, Pennsylvania.
He, born in Franklin Township, was called "Wilbert" and he was a prominent farmer and oil man. He and his wife Mary (Grossman) between 1889 and 1915 had 3 girls and then 4 boys. They raised their family in Slippery Rock, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
In 1920 Wilbert, his wife Mary and their 5 year old son Clyde died of a combination of influenza and Lobar Pneumonia within 36 hours of one another.
