Dean was the machine operator and mechanic on the farm. Dean and his father were very innovative and designed and built many new farm implements. He also almost always won the tractor handling contest at the Bulter Farm Show. Over his lifetime he raised many prized milking cattle.

He married Velma Pauline Michael on October 28th, 1939. Between 1940 and 1963 they had 8 children. In the order of their births, their names are: John Woodrow, Rita Pauline, Sondra Ann, Mary Susan, Lynn Everett, Paul Jeffery, Tracey Jo and Brenda Jean.

Dean was a winter resident of St. Cloud. A dairy farmer for over 50 years, he was a member of the St. Cloud High 12 Club. Dean was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, Harrisville, Pa., and Evangelistic Methodist Church, St. Cloud.

He died doing what he loved; camping in Harrisville. His final services were held Sept. 14 at the Harrisville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Patricia M. Nelson officiating. A Masonic service was held Sept. 12 at the Grove City Lodge No. 603 F.& A.M. Burial was in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville, PA.
