G. R. Whitehead, 72 year-old farmer who had lived in Coryell County for nearly 40 years died Tuesday afternoon in the local hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. Thursday at Scott's chapel, Rev. Joe Worley and Rev. Bennie McBride officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Whitehead was born in Williamson County, Oct 26, 1887, and later moved with his family to Stephens County. There he married Miss Julia Pinnell July 11, 1911.
They moved to Coryell County in 1912 and resided here for 30 years. They lived in West Texas from 1942 to 1951, and had resided on the Pidcoke Road near Gatesville since 1952.
Mr. Whitehead was a member of the Keener Chapel Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Wiley Whitehead of Oglesby and Edwin Whitehead of Gatesville; a brother, M. H. Whitehead of Stephenville; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Rodgers of Temple and Mrs. Nina Roberts of Liberty Hill; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
