George Henry Clark

ODGEN: George Henry Clark, 69, of 555 twentieth street, died late Friday, May 10, 1940, of a heart attack while visiting with friends.

Mr. Clark was born May 7, 1871 in Estherville, Iowa, a son of Johannes (Jonas) and Adeline (Adelaide) Lynch Clark. He spent his early life in Estherville, and at the age of 15 he was employed as a call boy for the Rock Island railroad. He married Selma Andrews (Anderson) in October in 1890 in Estherville and in 1910 they moved to Montello, Nev., where Mr. Clark was employed as a car foreman for the Southern Pacific railroad.

He came to Ogden in 1919 and until he retired in 1937 he was employed as a car inspector by Odgen Union Railway and Depot Company. He was a member of the Southern Pacific Old Timers club and Brotherhood of Railway Carmen No. 548.

Surviving are his widow (Selma Anderson) of Ogden; two sons Claude Franklin Clark (Eva Newlun) of Richmond, Cal. and John Wesley Clark (Sarah Burk) of El Paso, Texas: two daughters, Mrs. Hazel B. Morrison (Harry Morrison) of Richmond, Cal. and Mrs. Nellie M. Newlun (Lyle L. Newlun) of Montello, Nev. six grandchildren and one great grand child.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at l p.m. in the Rose room of Deseret Mortuary by James Martin, Counselor Ogden, L. D. S. , fourth ward bishopric. Burial will be in Odgen City Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sunset room of the Mortuary Sunday, Monday, Tuesday until time for services.
