Mr. Lester A. Malone passed from this life on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009.

Mr. Malone, a 68-year resident of Fort Walton Beach, leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Stella W. Malone; two daughters, Tourey Malone Guarino of Fort Walton Beach and Wanda Malone Kirby (Paul) of Georgia; five grandchildren, Jeremy Kirby of Colorado, Katharine Guarino Scallan, Texas, Rebekah Kirby White (Tim), Virginia, Denise Guarino, Washington and Chris Kirby, Virginia; two great-grandchildren; sister, Enda Shiflett, Texas; sisters-in-law, Rochelle Kantner, Georgia, Vitana (Maxwell) Peevy, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born Jan. 2, 1921, in Dublin, Texas, he migrated to Fort Walton Beach in 1942. His long and outstanding work history began in 1939 when he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later served as a civilian in the Army Air Crops, Brookley Field, Ala., the USAF Air Research and Development Command at Eglin Field, and the U.S. Department of Interior. But the most rewarding and joyous portion of his career were the 54 years spent at the former Gibson Electric, now known as Cooling and Heating. He was a reservoir of knowledge in many fields and was called upon by many contractors in various areas across the region. Mr. Malone could always be relied upon to solve any and all problems presented to him. He will be greatly missed by his family, co-workers and customers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Cinco Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1 p.m., with burial following at the Brooks Memorial Cemetery, Church and Second Streets, Fort Walton Beach. Davis-Watkins Funeral Homes will be handling the arrangements.
