OBITUARY: Charles R. Wilkins was born in Davis County, Wisconsin, on January 2, 1837, and died at Reno, this state, on August 6, 1914, aged 77 years, 6 months and 24 days. He was married in 1856 to Miss Mae [Mary] E. Hoover and to this union eleven children were born, five of whom are living, and with his wife survive him. The surviving children are Mrs. Mae Porter, Mrs. Belle Porter and Bert Wilkins, near Reno, and Mrs. Maude Graham of Jeffries [Jeffers, Cottonwood County], Minnesota; and [Mrs?] Aurthur Graham of Madison, Wisconsin. He also leaves a number of grandchildren.

Deceased came to Cass County in 1868 and lived in Atlantic for a number of years. Two sons, Dan and Oscar, both deceased, were well known in this city. The funeral services were held at Reno the Monday following his death. Rev. J.D. Corbin of Cumberland officiated and the interment was in the Reno Cemetery."
