OBITUARY :
MR. HARPER J. BONEBRAKE, 92, a resident of Quincy Village, Quincy, PA and formerly of 10034 Amsterdam Road, Waynesboro, PA died at 2:23 A.M. Sunday, October 12, 2008 in the nursing home. His health was declining for the past several years.

He was born on November 18, 1915 in the Roadside area of Washington Township, Franklin County, PA; he was the son of the late Harper S. and Emma (Miller) Bonebrake. He was a life long resident of the Waynesboro area.

Mr. Bonebrake graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1933. He then took an apprenticeship at Landis Machine Company in Waynesboro.

Mr. Bonebrake served with the 101st Mounted Cavalry of Waynesboro.

He and his first wife, the late Mrs. Dorothy V. (Rowe) Bonebrake, were married December 31, 1938 in Hagerstown, MD. They moved to the Amsterdam Road address in 1964. Mrs. Bonebrake died April 12, 1978. He entered the nursing home July 2005.

Mr. Bonebrake was employed by Landis Machine Company and Vulcan Machine both of Waynesboro, then prior to retiring in the mid 70's, he was a supervisor in the engineering department at Mack Truck in Hagerstown for 22 years.

He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 731 and Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 both of Waynesboro.

He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, golfing, bowling and playing cards.

He is survived by a daughter, Doris J. Eckhart of Gettysburg, PA, two grandchildren, Eric A. Eckhart of Reading, PA, Lovee L. Cook of Harrisburg, PA, eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Julie Kotkowski Bonebrake, three sisters, Ruth Grohl, Mildred Rollins and Margaret Hockersmith.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 16, 2008 with Rev. C. Albert Guyer officiating in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
