"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
2 Timothy 4:7

Barbara Lynn "Bobbie" Mouton, a 28-year teacher of St. Landry Parish who instructed special education at Park Vista Elementary, died Tuesday, September 19, 2000, of cancer in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. During those years she taught and influenced hundreds of children in Opelousas. As a dedicated special education teacher, Mrs. Mouton devoted much of her time and services to the Special Olympics, helping many of her students become successful Special Olympic athletes along the way. Also, Mrs. Mouton was an active member of her church and delivered readings regularly on Sundays for more than 15 years to the St. Landry Parish Church congregation, of which she was a life-long member.

Mrs. Mouton is survived by her husband, Frank Mouton; three daughters, Michelle Mouton of Mount Vernon, Iowa, Felicia Mouton and Julie Mouton, both of Lafayette; a son, Paul Mouton and wife Lynn; her mother, Winnie Ardoin; her father, Derta "Dusty" Ardoin and wife Rose, all of Opelousas; a brother, Steve Ardoin of Magnolia, Ark.; and two grandchildren, Allyssa and Ross Mouton.
