Son of Polydore O. Hudson 1797-1868 and Harriett G. Morehouse 1799-1853. Hiram was a sargeant in the 4th Michigan Cavalry. Hiram was a county attorney nominated by Democrats for Congress in the 9th District. Had been a prosecutor in Allegan County. In 1904 Mr. Hudson was a candidate for the nomination for Lieutenant Governor. After moving to Mancelona, he held the office of Village President five terms. He was a veteran of the civil war and a prominent Mason. He was survived by his wife, Sarah Ann Billings Hudson 1839-1921 and 3 children, Suel P. 1858-1946, Hattie M. Hudson Wilson 1860-1919 and Anna G. Hudson Ollis 1875-?*Civil War Veteran
Hiram served as a Sergeant with the 4 Michigan Calvary Company-L. He enlisted on July 21, 1862 and was discharged on July 1, 1865.
